Tips and Features
You can push the * key on your phone during any call to use these controls. They include Mute/Unmute and Increase/Decrease volume. Pressing the * key lists the menu, and takes you out of the conference call until you make a menu selection. The voice you hear is heard only by you (not the other callers) and the other callers do not hear the tone when you push the * key or subsequent menu keys.
Commands available:
- 1 to Mute/Unmute yourself
- 4 to increase conference volume
- 6 to decrease conference volume
- 7 to increase your volume
- 9 to decrease your volume
- 8 to exit
Conference Call Etiquette Tips:
Be aware of background noise. Find a quiet place to talk and use the mute feature.
Be aware whether or not your phone is on mute.
If using a cell phone or cordless phone, mute the call when you're not talking. Both types of phones can have a lot of background noise.
Do not place your conference call on hold, especially if your phone has hold music or beeps periodically.
Avoid shuffling papers and typing, it sounds very loud over a conference call.
Be aware of squeaky and leather chairs, they can both be very loud over the phone.
Avoid eating or chewing gum. This can create unpleasant sounds over a conference call.
Try not to talk over another person. Wait for an appropriate pause in the conversation.
Be aware of others that are trying to speak on the call and avoid monopolizing the conversation.
Be polite.
