Calling 9-1-1
When you dial 9-1-1, you speak with a trained dispatcher who can get professional
emergency assistance to your side. In the event of a fire, police or medical
emergency, or to report a crime in progress, you should always call 9-1-1.
Push 5 does not replace 9-1-1. It is a perfect complement. Use Push 5 when:
- It’s not possible to call 9-1-1. For example, if you are calling from your cell phone and can’t speak.
- It’s not appropriate to call 9-1-1. You do not require emergency fire, police, ambulance or medical assistance.
- You want to reach people you know to notify them of an urgent event and/or to get their help.
